As much as I appreciate beautiful art, and respect the rights of artists everywhere to show nudity, gore, and other taboo subjects. I also remember that many artists were offended by the maturity tag. I respectfully ask that you respect my right to not be *FIRED IMMEDIATELY* while browsing DA for resources, inspiration, or just taking a break.
Not all DA members are school children who need to be protected from taboo subject matter. Some of us are hardworking people who buy subscriptions and enjoy the beautiful work, posts, and news shared here. I am more than happy to turn off the filters when I get home and look at all of those beautifully lit bottoms that arent technically mature content. Please help me not be sent home permanently because my coworkers and HR are not as interested in the lighting techniques.

"That's redundant, the mature filter IS the NSFW tag. People need to stop being pussies if they're offended by it. "

Hello :iconpakaku: I hope I can help to enlighten you on some small differences between Mature content and NSFW. Here is an image I consider Mature content:

I hope we can both agree on this. Images that are NSFW tend to have nothing "technically" mature about them. So I provided the examples below.
***REMINDER I have no problem with this art. Some of these are great and some scared the hell out of me but they are all "Not Safe (or Suitable) For Work;" i.e., containing graphic or adult imagery, such as content that might be offensive to employers or co-workers***

Additionally I dont understand who you arerefering to as "pussies" but I'm assuming its the above artists.

"Also, why are you on deviantArt at work?"
So I'm not sure how often you utilize Deviant Art but there are fantastic resources on here in the form of work, people, and inspiration. When I am browsing at work typically the following is occurring:
I am searching for a resource (free or paid) for a project

I am researching poses, user interfaces, or tutorials

I am looking for inspiration to a block I am having with my work

I am browsing or reading messages, because I'm on a break

There is already a feature similar to this.
Hello :iconnyiana-sama:  and thank you for being a DA volunteer. I appreciate you taking the time to comment but I think you are overlooking the very real differences between Mature content and NSFW. I hope the rest of this post will help to illuminate my dilemma. I love using DA and pay for its services on two accounts. I use it to help me in my projects and I really love browsing. I however will not be able to access this site during the day anymore because there is simply too much content that would cause contention if a coworker were to walk behind me and see a thumbnail of some of the gore, sex, and violence that appears on the site. I do not mind that people post these things and many I would be more than happy to view at home.
I believe the 'minor' difference between NSFW and Mature is what separates Deviant Art from being utilized by more professionals in many different industries. I browse Deviant art for resources, ideas, and inspiration from work and artists. Is DA simply not meant for professional graphic designers? Is it only a hobby site? I would love your input. Thanks.

I hope this clearly defines what I am trying to say. It pains me but if this cant be resolved there is no reason to renew my membership. I'm going to transfer my work from the last 9 years between my :icongreyday19: and :iconelizabethbarndollar: paid accounts and switch entirely to picasa which is integrated into G+. I really have loved being a part of DA but I am getting more and more of the impression that this place is getting less socially open, more political, and less of the collaborative interesting spot that it has been in the past.

PS: In my search, I found many deviants were kind enough to click the 'Mature Content' tag. THANK YOU FOR THINKING OF OTHERS. When I am home I browse your work.

...It seems to be the exact same thing to me. And nobody would use it, because they would assume the same. All the sites I've been to use NSFW as a maturity filter-the exact same as the one dA already has.

Are you referring to art related sites or social sites? Deviantart is rather unique from most sites in that it functions as both a fine art platform and as a social network.
